How to get a Certificate of Character

An article describing the latest procedure

Request a certificate from this link

My experience from 2015 -

It is an easy process to get a certificate of character. You can go to any police station and apply for it. Full details are in the links below.

One thing to note is to avoid going in close to the end of the month or else you may be told "the book gone up so we cannot take request for certificates". There is a manual log book where requests are taken and it goes to headquarters every so often and there is no secondary book to use in its place.

You can go into any station at any time to make the request, even if you do not live in the area. You will need your ID preferably driver's permit and $50ttd. The officer will ask the reason for the certificate, your occupation, address and write down your description with eye colour and hair colour. After the details are filled in, you will be fingerprinted. An ink/paint pad will be prepped and the officer will roll each finger on the ink then onto the request form. You will hopefully be allowed to wash your hands afterward with soap and a sink otherwise it would be very messy. You will be advised it should take 1 to 2 weeks for the station to get the certificate,it will probably be much longer. You will be issued a receipt for your payment of the $50.
