I saw a HP AIO 3050 that was refusing to use a HP 61 black and color toner. On the cover where you go to change the cartridge says use HP 122, but the manuals found online say HP 61 which is what was bought without checking the printer.
HP tech support says I need to buy the 122 ink as indicated or I can change the region settings of the printer to use the 61. This change can only be done once or twice at most and makes the printer use one particular number, not both at the same time. I had to call 1-866-408-5408 for instructions if I wanted to change the region. In my case the correct 122 will be bought to go into the printer.
Try this workaround for the Regionalization of HP Cartridges. It worked for my single function HP Deskjet D2563.
ReplyDelete1) Download the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility from their site. It’s a standalone program. Mine is version 4.1.
2) Prepare what you want to print the way you do but only one print job at a time. Then click the “Print” menu item in the File menu of the program you’re using like Microsoft Word. There will be a prompt in the system tray that says it is printing (Windows 7) but it is not. It’s ok.
3) Open the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility. Select in the window the printer’s name then click the “Diagnose” button. A new window will open with several tabs on it. I can’t remember the name of the Tab that should be click. Just click the 1st or the 2nd Tab and find the “Test Print” button and click it. The printer will print the print job. If you have fed more paper than what is needed, it will also print a test page. To avoid this, feed only exact number of paper per print job and after that hit the “Cancel” button on your Printer. You can then prepare and print another print job.
