Why new laptops still suck

I bought a laptop that has a hard drive made 6 months ago. It was probably assembled 3 months ago. Now I have to spend almost 3 hrs adding SP1 to win 7, and adding updates from 2 years ago to a system that was probably designed after some of the patches I am applying. Typical story for all manufacturers.

Each update should be put into the image for a new system as soon as its out.
